A Forest for Our Children
A short film for the Sunshine Coast Community Forest about selective harvesting and ecosystem-based management on the Sunshine Coast.

The Sunshine Coast Community Forest manages a forest tenure running from Gibsons past Sechelt. A Forest for Our Children shows how it does that work: partial and selective harvesting, an ecosystem-based management approach, and care for environmental values on the land being logged. It also shows the community forest balancing timber with recreation and biodiversity, so the forest keeps serving the people who live alongside it.
The film was made as a standalone piece within the larger BC Community Forest Association project that also produced Rooted Together. Benjamin Hazel and Jamie Frith shot it as a two-person crew, working with the community forest's management team, to give the organization a film it could share with its own community and use to move its projects forward.
