The Children’s Forest
A film for the Cortes Children's Forest Trust and the Cortes Island community about its effort to buy and protect a stand of old-growth rainforest on the island.

On Cortes Island, residents set out to raise the money to buy a stand of old-growth rainforest so it could be put into protection. The Children's Forest follows that effort and the community behind it.
The film features many Cortes Island residents alongside environmental campaigner Tzeporah Berman and mycologist Paul Stamets. It takes a stronger environmental stance than most of the studio's work, grounded in the community's wish to decide what happens to the last old-growth forest on their island.
The film brought people on the island together and built momentum for the campaign. The forest is still standing today, though the purchase has not yet gone through.
